The following 14 grant recipients have been awarded grants of between 1000 - 2000 USD to provide free or discounted doula services in 2023. Their applications were carefully reviewed by the Global Doula Project board of directors. Applications were assessed based on sustainability and impact. We are so proud of the doulas working to support sacred moments all around the world.

  • Jendayi Doula Services

    Jekisha Elliot of North Carolina provided birth and postpartum doula services to families in need.

  • Anitya Doula Services

    Catherine Durkin Robinson of Ilinois provided end of life doula services for one family.

  • Summit Care Partners

    Cryst’l Sheer of Virginia provided education and outreach to hundreds of Virginia residents through workshops and presentations and helped five families privately complete their advance directives and living wills.

  • Adoray Home Health and Hospice

    Adoray Home Health and Hospice of Wisconsin started and end of life doula program with 5 doulas who provided services such as sitting vigil and creating legacy projects for their clients.

  • Okeechobee Heathy Start Coalition

    Okeechobee Healthy Start Coalition of Florida provided birth doula support and perinatal education to families in this new doula program.

  • You Are Not Alone Elder Care LLC

    Adrian Allotey of New Jersey provided end of life doula services and education for one family in need.

  • The HeartWay

    Andrea Deerheart of the HeartWay in California offers end of life planning, grief counseling, and end of life care for free for all clients.

  • Serene Transitions

    End of life doula services, Memphis, Tennessee provided doulas services at a nursing home for 2 months, served 2 clients (1 at a reduced rate another pro bono), and povided mentoring to 5 aspiring EOL doulas.

Naturally Nurtured Birth Charitable Services

Memphis, TN, USA

Shanille Bowens founded Naturally Nurtured Birth Charitable Services with the mission to amplify the voices of birthing people and improve black maternal health in the community by providing birth and postpartum doula care and offering culturally appropriate support to those at risk of poor outcomes.

MappaMamma

Chiavari, Italy

MappaMamma provides information about services for local families with children from 0-6 years old. They will be using the doula grant to provide discounted postpartum services to 8 families via the doulas listed on the MappaMamma online portal.

End of Life Doula CLE

Cleveland, Ohio, USA

Sheila Burke offers companionship and support for the dying and their families. With the doula grant she will be offering her services free of charge to hospital patients who have no family to sit with them. She will also be hosting a death cafe where people can come together to talk about death and grief. Sheila is the author of several books on the subject.

Based out of Virginia, USA, Taja Iglesias founded the Momager Collective in order to provide bespoke support to all parents and families by making access to an inclusive like-minded doulas available to marginalized communities.

The G.R.O.W. doula program is a branch of the Healthy Start Coalition in Indian River County. They not only provide free birth doula support, but they also offer a free training program for people in their community.

WhatTheDoula LLC

Memphis, Tennessee, USA

Kaila Matthews founded WhatTheDoula with the aim to positively impact the birth and postpartum experiences of black and brown families in Memphis through education about rights, comfort techniques for before, during, and after birth, and support processing outcomes.
